Price: $699.99 CAD
Initial Reaction: What can I say; my hubby bought this set for me for Christmas (we never celebrate or do gifts but we did this past year – pre covid) & I could not wait to try it out. I had previously watched some Youtube videos on the Dyson Airwrap Styler beforehand to decide if I really wanted this and to learn how to use it because it does take some practice & getting used to. When I saw how much volume people were able to create & with minimal heat damage to their hair, I decided, “I really wanted it”.
When I opened the gift & pulled it’s carrier out of it’s cardboard box I was instantly impressed. The camel coloured vegan leather case is so sleek & elegant it’s hard not to be initially impressed. It feels really solid and built well. Each piece has it’s own compartment to live in without rubbing up against the other items and risking any damage. IT IS VERY WELL MADE.
Usage: Thanks to Covid I can’t say I have really gotten much use out of it, what’s the point, haha. It’s not the quickest tool to use but once you get used to it & get a little practice, it does get easier to maneuver. I like that it dries & styles simultaneously so that speeds up some styling time.
Hair Concerns:
– blonde ends = drier ends
– thick/heavy hair = flat hair
– inconsistent straight & wavy
Claims: “No extreme heat – Intelligent heat control measures airflow temperature over 40 times a second and regulates heat, to ensure it always stays below 150°C.²
Attracts and wraps hair, using air – The Coanda effect attracts hair to the barrel, then wraps it for you. No clamping, gloves or awkward winding mechanisms. Just voluminous curls and waves.
Styles and dries simultaneously – The Dyson Airwrap™ styler combines powerful airflow with controlled heat, to dry and style your hair from damp – with no extreme heat.
Coanda to smooth – The smoothing brushes harness the Coanda effect to attract hair to the surface of the brush, propelling air along the strands, to mimic a stylist’s blow-dry technique.
30mm Airwrap™ barrels – Create and set voluminous curls or waves. With clockwise and anti-clockwise barrels for symmetrical curls.
40mm Airwrap™ barrels – Create and set loose curls or waves. With clockwise and anti-clockwise barrels for symmetrical curls.
Firm smoothing brush – Creates a straighter style with less frizz and fewer flyaways.¹ With firm bristles engineered to control unruly, frizz-prone hair.
Soft smoothing brush – Creates a smooth, blow-dry finish. With soft, ball-tip bristles engineered to be gentle on the scalp.
Round volumizing brush – Directs air into the hair to give body, and the bristles create tension to shape hair as it dries.
Pre-styling dryer – Takes hair from wet to damp, ready for styling.”
Results: Incredible! The volume is literally next level. And it lasts for a few days!!! When does volume last for a few days, especially when you’re not going to a salon for a blow out? My hair is below shoulder height, I used to have really long hair but cut it to help get more volume (for context). I prefer the larger barrels for both the volume & the waves/curls it gives. The two smoothing brushes create soft silky strands while adding volume.
I do recommend using a little bit of product either a mousse while wet or a hairspray afterwards. I recommend anything from the Kevin Murphy line. It helps lock in that volume so you don’t have to style your hair as often, only after washing really.
I should also note, I have received so many compliments anytime I’ve styled my hair with this Dyson Airwrap.
Final Thoughts: I love this machine, I really do. I love this machine so much that I had the family pool in to buy my mother in law one for her birthday. If it wasn’t so damn expensive I would buy one for everyone of my family members because it truly is so good! BUT, I have to say it, IT IS WAY TOO DAMN EXPENSIVE!
$700 (CAD) for the Dyson Airwrap Styler, for a super advanced hair tool, FOR A HAIR TOOL!!! Is crazy! It’s absolutely absurd. But I look at it this way, with an average price of a blowout in Toronto running around $50-$60, after 14 uses the Dyson Airwrap Styler has essentially paid for itself. After that you’re saving money (kind of haha). And the fact that it doesn’t emit damaging heat, you’re helping to keep your hair & style & colour in better condition. Which, in theory, should help maintain your cut and colour longer.
I think this tool is perfect for people who enjoy styling their hair and for those who don’t. It is a fun tool to use and because the results last for a few days, it isn’t something you have to do every single day.
Will I Re-purchase? I sure as hell hope I never have to purchase The Dyson Airwrap Styler again. But, if I had to, I probably would.

Dyson Airwrap Complete Styler – Vegan Hair Review – A Blog About Stuff
I can’t believe how expensive these things are but I love that there’s less heat damage.
Great review! I have found Dyson products are crazy expensive but really do hold up with great quality and service when things break. It sounds like this product is similar!
It’s true, with Dyson you definitely get what you pay for. Their quality is really great. Although I have heard that their air filters don’t do too much ♀️
Sounds like a great product!
Thanks for your comment <3
Sounds like an incredible tool for hair! I could never spend that much on something for my super straight hair however I’m thrilled that you love it!
Aw thanks! I’m happy too otherwise what a waste. If you ever get a chance to play with one, try it out, you’d be surprised how easily it transforms different types of hair. Thanks so much for your comment <3
I’m all about what’s easy! I don’t like to spend a lot of time on hair. Keep it easy!
I’m with you on that. Although this tool does work pretty quick once you get the hang of it.
Whoa! Much as I love a good blow out or professional styling, that price point is WAAAY above my budget for someone as low maintenance as myself! But good to know that it actually does what it advertises!
I feel you. And that’s pretty much how I feel, it better do what it says it’s gonna do for that much $$$ haha.
I’m confused, why is it Vegan?
The “leather” case that it comes in is vegan leather. And because Dyson doesn’t test on animals or use animals in their products.
This is completely out of my experience, as I haven’t used hair stuff. I don’t even have a brush or comb! I do use shampoo, though
Low maintenance!
Haha not gonna lie, I don’t brush my hair all that often either! Low maintenance is key for sure.
Thank you for the review. A bit out of my price range, not to mention I’m a lazy styler. Wash & go for me. Love that you love it!
I’m with you. I’m lazy with my hair too, haha. Thanks for your comment <3
It does seem expensive until you break down how much it costs each time at a salon! Glad it worked well!!!!
Thank you, and me too! Can you imagine the audacity to sell something that didn’t work at that price point? There’d be a fight, haha.
$700.00 seems a bit steep but if it gets the job done so you don’t have to visit a salon. Then it will pay for itself.
Exactly, and in a way, it helps keep you out of a salon during the pandemic.
Wow, this product sounds amazing! It is pricey but when you find something you love it is worth it.
For sure! And I imagine this will last a long time. *touch wood* haha
I love the expression “cheap things aren’t good and good things aren’t cheap.” I think it’s good to indulge for something you love from time to time. Last year I spent $70 on a hairbrush! I never thought I would ever do something like that, but I absolutely love that brush and feel it was money very well spent.
I love that expression. Definitely applies here & in your case. If you love it, then it’s worth it.
My hair is way too short for this but sounds like a great product. Thanks.
Ya short hair is pretty awesome ’cause you save sooooo much money on hair care! And it can look real cute. Thanks for the comment <3
It sounds amazing but not sure if I could justify $700 for it. If they lowered the price then I’d be in.
I know! I am totally with you on that, haha.
Good review. I’ve been curious about these.
Thank you so much for your comment <3
Nice review! At least it works well for the price point!!
That’s the least they could do! For that price, it better freaken work! haha
Wow! This sounds amazing. I always have trouble wrapping my right side. Both sides never look the same
Oooh yes… I didn’t even really think of that but that’s a good point. Bc each side of your head has it’s own adapter you get a perfectly even set.
Holly hell! Bye bye ! I personally have thin hair but alot of it so it looks thicker, it is curly so I wouldn’t need this kind of product. I can make it curly, wavy or straight. I do believe in a good blow dryer and flat iron but I don’t spend over $50 on a either. Sounds like a cool hair tool but that price point isn’t worth it for me.
Thanks for your comment. The one huge plus about this is that it won’t damage your hair like other blow dryers. But I totally get that it is absurdly priced.
Looks like an amazing product! Thank you for the honest review.. I always appreciate this when looking at a high end purchase!
Thanks Holly! I agree, when you’re looking to buy high ticket items, it’s nice to see what other people think first. The last thing you want to do is spend the money & be disappointed.
I would love to see some picts. It’s funny how Covid has really changed so much even how much I shower. My poor family. lol
Haha Right?! What is personal hygiene? And you’re right, I should add some pics. <3
I agree- too high! At least you love it. I’d like to see some pictures of your hair. They’d be more realistic instead of ones used in advertising.
Thanks for your comment. I think I should add pics too. That just means I have an excuse to use it again after months of it sitting in my makeup room haha.
Holy cow. I had no idea there was a hair kit this expensive! If it could help give my postpartum pregnancy hair life though, it’d be worth it. Haha My hair just looks like crap right now…thankfully, nobody is seeing me for like a year thanks to Covid so I’m not too concerned.
Haha right?! We’re all just growing out our hair and living free. 😛
I was wondering what this was all about. Looks very cool but way too expensive! For that money it better make me look like a supermodel
haha yes! Although, you might feel like one? But maybe that’s just me bc I can never get this much volume in my hair, haha.
I like the multi-functionality of this, dries and styles – I definitely don’t have time to do both. It’s usually either/or. Thanks for the review!
For sure. That’s a huge time saver. Thanks for your comment <3
