I have tried my fair share of self tanners as I am always on the look out for a healthy, natural looking glow. Vegan beauty is constantly being adapted & evolved so when I saw these self tanning bronzing water mists from St. Tropez, I knew I had to give them a go!
Checkout my latest self tanner review on Isle of Paradise’s Self-Tanning Butter here.
Price: (6.7oz/200ml) $54 CAD
Initial Reaction:
I was so excited to try this new tanning item out. I have had success with tanning waters in the past & I find you end up using less product. Firstly, I have to say this stuff does smell amazing, even after it’s set in, aka, there is fragrance in here. Secondly, skin does feel nourished & super soft afterwards – thank you Hyaluronic Acid. And the tan itself is a nice colour.
How the tan settles afterwards is where my concern lies.
Usage:
I bought this in the beginning of March & used it almost every week (twice a week very rarely) & probably have 1 more application left mid-June. So barely over 3 months of use, that’s around $18 a month. Not awful, pretty average usage I would say.
Skin Concerns:
- no real body skin concerns other than not enjoying how my pale skin looks without a tan haha.
- usual need for moisturizer etc.

Vegan Beauty Results:
The MOST uneven tan I’ve ever had. This is a water mist & it is recommended to use a tanning mitt to ensure an even blend, which is exactly what I did. The tan is said to develop between 4-8 hours so you can’t really see or feel where you might have missed which shouldn’t really be an issue if you’re saturating the mitt and spritzing along your body.
Unfortunately, this tanner left streaky, uneven, dark patches in the strangest areas. Even though this is a “no-rinse” formula, it wears off your feet from fabric or shoe rubbing, wears off your elbow creases from sweating/working out, underarms are so patchy & uneven, knees, feet, hands, even my belly button looked weird; it’s just a mess of a product & I haven’t experienced this with any other at-home self-tanners before.
Final Thoughts:
Eventually I figured out the best way to apply the product (really saturating the mitt & doing a light spritz on the body part being targeted) but there is no way to fix the way the product breaks down/wears over time.
I work out a lot & for some reason the friction & the sweating really breaks down the tanner quick!
I will say it did leave my skin super soft & hydrated, which not a lot of self-tanners do. I’m sure you could incorporate this product with another self-tanner product & get the tan & the skincare benefits but for me that’s just too much effort. I would rather apply moisturizer after my self-tanner has set in to get the same results.
Will I Re-purchase?
100% no. I prefer Isle of Paradise drops, Tarte Brazilliance, & other St. Tropez items to this one.
Where To Buy this vegan beauty item?
Sephora, Ulta, & other St. Tropez retailers
I love having a little glow to my skin (wish I was JLo haha). Anyone else use self tanners & what are some of your favs?
