Jack Black - Double Duty Face Moisturizer - SPF 20 - Vegan Review - A Blog About Stuff

Price: (3.3 oz/ 100 mL) $37 CAD

Initial Reaction: I have been using this SPF moisturizer on my male actors for years so my initial reaction doesn’t really exist any longer. However, I did recently get my husband on a new skincare regiment (cleanser & moisturizer – starting low key so he actually sticks to it & doesn’t get overwhelmed). Since using the Jack Black Double Duty he can’t stop rubbing his face, haha. He says, “feel how soft my face is” now, which is a win in my books!

Usage: It’s hard for me to know how long it lasts because sometimes I will use it on multiple actors in a day and other times I won’t use it for weeks. But it’s creamy and slippery so you don’t need to use too much.

Skin Concerns: (Because this isn’t for me, my skin concerns won’t be listed)

Claims: “Lightweight, emollient moisturizer provides lasting hydration and helps improve the skin’s overall appearance. Broad-spectrum SPF 20 with antioxidants helps protect the skin from the damaging effects of environmental stress–including UV light, blue light, and pollution.

Results: A very smooth, silky finish that doesn’t feel greasy or sticky. I’ve also never found any flashback or white cast residue even on my BIPOC actors. I usually apply this Jack Black Double Duty Moisturizer to my actors with a traditional, flat synthetic fibre foundation brush (Sigma F60 – or skincare brushes do the trick too). My husband however squirts a few pumps into his palm & rubs it all in. I find it absorbs quickly & I’ve never had an issue applying makeup to it afterwards. I even mix it with a liquid foundation to create a hydrated sheer coverage that turns out beautiful.

While the SPF 20 isn’t a ton I find it’s perfect for regular day-to-day applications. If my actors were going to be shooting outside, then I would most definitely apply additional sunscreen.

Final Thoughts: I absolutely love this product and that’s why it has been a staple in my makeup kit for well over 5 years now. It’s also why I was eager to get my husband to start using it too.

Will I Re-purchase? Definitely. I keep my kit stocked with 2 at a time.
