Isle of Paradise Self-Tanning Body Butter
Vegan Beauty Review
Price: $33CAD (6.76 oz/ 200 mL)
Initial Reaction: Already having been a fan of Isle of Paradise’s Self-Tanning Drops, I had high expectations for their new Self-Tanning Body Butter. One of the downsides to self-tanners is that they can leave your skin a bit dry because you’re skipping the moisturizer for the tan. Que, this vegan self-tanning moisturizer and a huge reason why I already love their self-tanning drops, MOISTURIZER!!!
Needless to say, I was super excited to try this new vegan product from Isle of Paradise.
Usage: I like to use a self-tanner once or twice a week, depending on how bronzed I want to feel and the time of year. I bought my first bottle March 10th and at the time of writing this (April 19th), I still have at least two more applications left.
That works out to about $1.90 a day for 39 days. So it’s safe to say that it should last you at least a month, depending on your application frequency, etc.
Skin Concerns:
- No real body skin issues, I just like an easy overall sun kissed looking glow that doesn’t look patchy or orange and weird
Claims: “Get buttered up with an indulgent golden glow for your body.
The illuminating formula hydrates & nourishes with a natural blend of coconut, eucalyptus & peppermint oils. Featuring green colour correcting actives to cancel redness on the skin. A richer version of your body moisturiser with added gradual glow, this is vacation-ready skin, every day!”
“WHY YOU’LL LOVE ME
- Rich texture for an indulgent, hydrating finish
- Blend of skin-saving oils replenish, rejuvenate and soften skin
- Fast-absorbing and non-greasy
- Gradual self-tan for a natural glow that’s buildable with each use
- Illuminating pigments for an instant glow
- Vegan, cruelty free
Results: Since this vegan self-tanner is in a body butter form you can literally just squirt the product into the palm of your hand and rub it in like any other moisturizer. I like to be pretty thorough to ensure smooth even application.
The colour is a beautiful golden bronze that doesn’t look orange or overly fake. The colour isn’t immediate and takes about 4-8 hours to see the results. It does however leave an instant illuminated result with their golden pearlescent finish.
One very important thing to note, I like to moisturize my dry areas before applying this self-tanner. My dry areas include, hands, feet, elbows and knees. I find the product can cling to dryer skin areas and putting a layer of moisturizer on first can help eliminate that issue.
Also, I take a soapy damp face cloth after application and wipe down the palms of my hands and my finger nails & toe nails.
Final Thoughts: This stuff is good. I think it has decent value and I love that this vegan self-tanner is one of the cleaner self-tanners out there. I also love that Isle of Paradise is entirely vegan & cruelty free and that they promote body positivity.
Will I Re-Purchase? Yup, already have. I also bought a bottle for my mom to try out too.
Where to Buy? Sephora or Isle of Paradise

The Best Vegan Self-Tanner – Isle of Paradise Self-Tanning Body Butter – Vegan Beauty Review
I love a great self tanner!
Looks like a great tanner! Your results are awesome.
Thanks for sharing this self-tanner product. I’ve been curious about trying one.
I think you’d be happy with one like this, much easier application than most.
While this product is something I would not use I like it has moisturizers in it. I’m just not into to getting tan.
Totally! Tanners aren’t for everyone.
Sounds like a great product.
Interesting product to try! Thanks for the information!
This was an interesting read for me. And this vegan self tanner does appear t work great, I love that headshot of you.
Definitely something your beautiful skin does not need to worry about!
Great review! my pasty white legs could sure use this!!
that’s my fav thing coming from winter to spring, not looking so ghostly haha
Glad you found one that you love!
Its great that it looks natural! Seen a lot of people that you can tell used a tanning product because of the orange look
Totally! Tanners are fortunately starting to get better
That looks like it works great!
This product looks awesome! I love the before and after! It really looks natural. Good point about moisturizing first as I could see that that will help with a more even application. I’m intrigued as I’m letting legs out for the first time in a looooooong time. Haha!
Haha a few springs ago is when I realized a light coat of self tanner before wearing shorts goes a long way
What an incredible article!
What a great way to tan! Thank you for sharing.
Love the before and after pics. That’s a sweet tan! Love that it’s not a spray too.
I’ve tried so many different ones and I always find I prefer rub on tanners over sprays, they’re just too messy.
Sounds like a great product. Thank you for sharing!
The colour looked great! Something to consider, since I am feeling a little ‘pasty’. LOL
haha I feel you!
It’s nice to see a self tanner that works. I like to use them a few times before it really warms up so my legs aren’t so scary the first time I wear shorts.
Yes exactly! Ghost legs
I’m impressed with the color! Gonna have to hit up Sephora.
You’ll really like it, so easy to use.
I’ll totally keep this in mind when purchasing a self tanner!
I normally don’t use self tanner but I’ll keep this in mind if I want to balance out the skin that isn’t shown in the sun!
Of course you don’t! You naturally have a beautiful golden glow. But that’s actually a smart idea too, if you’re wearing a sleeveless dress or something instead of putting foundation on your tan lines that will inevitably rub off onto your clothes, you could instead even out your skintone with this.
So cool! I didn’t even realize they made vegan sunless tanner.
There’s pretty much a vegan alternative to everything now which is amazing!
The color looks really good! This looks like a great tanner.
Oooh! This looks like a good one. It seems like it gives you a very natural “tan”. I need to start self-tanning since it’s almost summer here.
Super natural
Great review. It looks like you got excellent results. The price is definitely right on this one and I love the ingredient list. Thank you!
Very well valued!
I love that it moisturizes! Might have to try it!
My fav part aside from the natural results
Wow those results look great! I love that it’s a little more natural than the ones one the shelf at the drugstore.
haha yes, I have had my trials with some of those too
I have been looking for a good tanner.. and this one sounds fan fantastic! Thank you for sharing!
Wow, your pictures sell the product. I love your suggestion to moisturize BEFORE using the self-tanner. I never would’ve thought of that. Thanks!
Moisturizing before definitely came from some funny trial and errors
