Summer Fridays & Glow Recipe
Summer Fridays – Summer Skin Nourishing Body Lotion
Price: $35 CAD (6.7 oz/ 200 mL) (at the time of this publishing)
Initial Reaction: I really enjoy Summer Fridays products. They make a great thick hydrating Lip Butter Balm which you can checkout my review here. And their Jet Lag Mask is pretty great too. So needless to say I went into this review with some decently high expectations.
My initial reaction to this vegan moisturizer was completely sensory. This nourishing body lotion smells like heaven. Using Summer Fridays signature summer scent of coconut, vanilla blossom, and warm almond. It’s truly a comforting luxurious scent while still having a clean beauty stamp of approval. 🙌
Usage: I bought this cream March 19th, 2021 & it lasted me roughly 2 months. I used it no more than twice a week (I like to alternate with different creams/body treatments). That comes too approximately, $2.20 per application.
That’s not a lot of money but I definitely think that’s on the higher end for 1 single use.
And of course this is more of a luxury body cream & isn’t necessarily for everyday use anyways but I like to break it down this way to show the products stretch and value.
Skin Concerns: Lately my skin has been feeling a little more dry than usual. Could be a combo of change in seasons/weather & the crazy amount of allergies and pollen in the air. Whatever the cause, I need something that’s a little more nourishing than usual right now.
Claims: “Packed with plant-derived butters and oils, its non-greasy formula instantly melts into the skin for all-day hydration, while replenishing ceramides deliver a lasting baby-soft feel.”
“This indulgent body lotion treats your skin and senses to the feeling of a sunny summer day. Skin is left deeply moisturized, powdery smooth to the touch, and lightly fragranced with our signature summer scent of coconut, vanilla blossom and warm almond.”
Results: Honestly, I felt like this lotion delivered everything that it says it will. It left my skin feeling very soft and nourished and hydrated.
Every time I applied it my husband or my mom would ask if someone was making pancakes 🤪
I’m not sure about y’all but I will take smelling like a soft fluffy vanilla coconut almond pancake any day! Haha
Final Thoughts: Although this vegan lotion does everything it says it will and although it smells absolutely delicious, I can’t help but feel like it is slightly overpriced for what it is. I think this item would be better valued under the $30 mark. Which I should mention it is $26 in the US, a good $9 less than Canada 🙄
Will I Re-Purchase?: Probably haha! It really is nice and since I only use it sparingly when I’m needing that hydration quench I feel like I can get more value from it. Plus we all deserve a few splurge products right?

Glow Recipe – Watermelon Glow AHA Pink Dream Body Cream
Price: $37 CAD (8.4 oz / 240 mL) (at the time of this publishing)
Initial Reaction: Again, another brand I’m already obsessed with. I’m already in love with their Watermelon + AHA Glow Sleeping Mask and their Watermelon Pink Juice Oil-Free Moisturizer.
Maybe I’m just obsessed with watermelon. 😹 🍉
This vegan lotion also smells incredible but so different from Summer Fridays. Although this is not a comparison review they’re just completely different scents. Glow Recipe smells like delicious juicy fresh watermelon bubble gum.
Usage: I bought this cream at the same time as the Summer Fridays lotion but I didn’t start using it until I had finished the first one. So that being said I do still have about 1/3 of the product left.
Again, I’m only using this about once to twice a week max. So let’s say I finish this last third by the end of June, that will mean this lotion lasted about 2 months and would roughly cost $2.30 an application. 10 cents more than the Summer Fridays moisturizer.
While that’s not a considerable difference it all adds up.
Skin Concerns: See above

Results: Another great product that feels so thick and smooth and nourishing. It does exactly what it claims to do which is all we can ask for. Products should do what they claim to do right?!
Final Thoughts: The product itself is really lovely. Like I said, it does what it claims to do and that’s great! My issue with this product is actually in it’s packaging!
While the packaging is super cute with it’s bubble gum soft pink colouring it isn’t very functional. The cream itself is super thick so once you get to the 1/3rd mark the cream no longer wants to actually pump out unfortunately.
I’m too cheap and hate waste so I’ve ended up trying to scoop it with the end of the pump or literally slamming it into my palm to try and get the cream to come to the opening. It’s super annoying and pretty wasteful in my opinion.
Will I Re-Purchase?: I don’t think so and that’s simply based on the packaging. If it were in a squeeze bottle like the Summer Fridays moisturizer I probably would buy this one again too.

I’m impressed, They both sound lovely
I love anything watermelon. Must give this a try now.
Thanks for such a thorough review! I love hydrating lotions and tend to use them sparingly too. And I love watermelon so would probably enjoy the 2nd lotion. However like you I don’t want to waste any. Hope the company addresses the packaging!
Me too! Then it would be such a great addition.
Thank you for this post. I have four products from glow recipe for skin care and they are working good/ok. I will have some lake and beach days and I am dry so I’ll keep summer days lotion in mind hehe.
Nice! I hope you have the best and hydrated days by the water
Wow. Thank you for sharing! You just motivated me to get into moisturizers & I may try a couple of these.
Such a great post I have been looking for a vegan moisturizer. I have really dry skin I will have to try one of these.
My skin has been drier than usual too. Summer Fridays sounds like the vegan moisturizer for me. The scent sounds heavenly and the cost isn’t too bad either. I seriously have a list of items I need to check out whenever I make it to Sephora lol!
It’s really so sophisticated without being too much.
My skin has been super dry lately, which is a product of Utah summers. I loved your write up of Summer Fridays. It’s definitely a splurge for me at that price point, but I’m interested to try it. Thanks!
I know, I can’t even believe a body cream could cost $30+
It’s kinda crazy.
