Let’s get into this juice cleanse stuff…
After I wrap up my work season I really enjoy doing a juice cleanse. The hours are long, the food ain’t that great, and there is no time for workouts except for weekends. So when I say I need a reset, I really do need to reset my organs, my mind, and my body. As I’m sure so many of you can relate!
Tip #1 – Set an Intention for your Juice Cleanse
I bet we all naturally set our intentions for a cleanse when we decide to do one. And I’m sure most of our intentions are the same, to be or feel healthier. But do you remind yourself of that intention before, during, & after?
I hadn’t really either but let me tell you it prepared me in a much more mature approach to cleansing, I think. It allowed me to look at a cleanse from a healing approach rather than a vanity approach.
The reset to healthy foods, consistent sleep & exercise were all that my body had been craving and gifting myself a cleanse to mentally & physically aid the process helped put my mind in the right direction.
Tip #2 – Eat light 2-3 days before the Juice Cleanse
It is entirely possible to detox without easing your way into the cleanse first but I don’t recommend it. Having rushed myself into a juice cleanse in the past, I can attest to the fact that, preparing your stomach for a cleanse will indeed make the cleanse that much easier.
If you think about our stomachs, they have the ability to stretch & shrink on a daily basis. Have you ever noticed that when you’ve had a really big dinner, the next morning you tend to be hungrier than normal? That’s because you stretched your stomach slightly & now it’ wants more yummy foods to eat!
So if you can, try to eat whole foods a couple of days leading up. Light foods like soups, salads, smoothies, & easy to digest stir fry’s, etc. You’ll notice that you’re not as hungry during the cleanse because you braced your stomach for this.
A little bonus tip here; the same goes for the next few days following your juice cleanse. You’ll notice that now your stomach has shrunk & you won’t have as large of an appetite. Use that to your advantage & stick to those nutrient rich whole foods that are easily digested.
Tip #3 – Try a Juice Cleanse while Menstruating
Ok I know, this sounds like hell right, but hear me out! Haha
I happened to time this cleanse out while I was on my first 3 days of my period. My first 3 days are always the hardest on me. TMI, they’re heavy, I have awful cramps, & I’m usually running in & out of the bathroom.
I also love to eat ALL OF THE FOODS, especially chocolate, ice cream, and basically any type of carb. When I tell you that doing a juice cleanse during this time was kind of life changing for me, I really mean it!
My cramps were not as painful! I still was in pain, I still bled like I was dying, but I did not have the toilet issues that I always have. It could be a coincidence, you know not all periods are the same severity and all. BUT, I have to say, I am going to try this again. Whether it be a full on juice cleanse or some type of vegetable broth, soups, and smoothies type of thing, I’m going to see if it helps.
And if it does, GAME CHANGER!!!

These are excellent tips for a juice fast! I’ve done a 7 day juice fast a couple of times. However the last few times I’ve benefited from a 3 day juice cleanse as well. Love how I feel after 3 days of drinking juice.
You’re a pro Cindy! I’ve done longer cleanses too but I think I prefer the 3 day ones haha. I get quite cranky when I’m too hungry
