Like most people, I love to travel. I love big expensive trips but I also love a quick short road trip. No matter the kind of trip, vegan food is always front & centre for me.

Recently my fam and I took a little road trip to Montreal. My grandparents (90 & 93 this year) moved into a retirement community and we really wanted to help them with the move. And I’m so thankful we did, when we got there, they could barely move around the apartment. There were boxes & furniture everywhere that they couldn’t move. By the time we left, the place was spotless & everything was in order!

So, let’s get to the good stuff…

Vegan Food in Montreal

While we were attacking the apartment, my husband & I would take breaks to run out and grab vegan food from the different local restaurants. My grandparents aren’t vegan but they LOVE everything we feed them. They also tend to prefer plant based milks & protein powders.

Find out why plant based milks are better than dairy milk here.

First stop…

Ohana Sushi

Y’all!!! This place was out of this world good!!!

Everything was so incredible & I wished we had ordered more hah.

Vegan Travel Vegan Food Montreal A Blog About Stuff Ohana Restaurant

Atmosphere: Since we only ordered takeout we didn’t get the full dine-in experience but let me tell you, the place was packed! There was about an hour wait just for takeout. But to me, if the place is poppin’, it means it’s worth the wait.

The staff was incredibly nice & I absolutely loved the decor.

The Food: I am fortunate to have a great sushi place around the corner from my house but it’s not all vegan. So when I found this ALL VEGAN sushi restaurant in MTL, I knew I needed to have it.

The sushi was on another level! This was the first time I’ve ever had sashimi of any sorts & I was blown away. If you are in Montreal, Ohana Sushi is a must visit!

Overall Rating: 5/5 – I’m definitely going back every time I visit my grandparents, that’s for sure!

Get The: Touna Ou So-Mont-Royal, like I said, out of this world good! And all of the other rolls we had were delicious too.

With vegan options like these, I do not understand why people are still brutalizing fish & animals.

We stayed at The Hotel Escade in the Quartier Dix30 area. My grandparents live in Chambly so it’s a nice in between, about 10/15mins from MTL & 10/15mins from Chambly.

The great thing about this hotel is that there are 2 fully vegan restaurants right there! So in the morning we brought a late breakfast over to the retirement home, ate with everyone, & got to work!

LOV

Vegan Travel Vegan Food Montreal A Blog About Stuff Lov Restaurant

Atmosphere: This place is beautiful & huge! You could definitely have a gorgeous dinner party here. It’s light & bright, a perfect modern boho chic.

Again, we’ve only ever had takeout here but the staff are always super friendly & helpful.

The Food: Everything is pretty darn tasty here. We first discovered them in May last year when visiting my grandparents & loved them, so we knew we had to go back.

Their menu is much more whole foods than mock meats. Meaning, their burger patties are housemade bean patties and they are delicious, especially with their garlic aioli.

Overall Rating: 4/5 – I couldn’t give them a perfect because I didn’t love my pasta dish, although my mom had the same one and she did haha. Maybe it’s me 😝

Get The: OMG you have to get the Brussel Sprouts!!! I know they’re just a damn side but they’re a whole DISH in my opinion. TBH, I threw these in my pasta and it made the whole thing better!

But also their tacos are fire too.

The best part of helping your grandparents move is finding cool nostalgia like these photos of my grandpa at the Great Wall of China & my great grandfather from the war.

The next day we skipped Lov & had to try…

Vegan Travel Vegan Food Montreal A Blog About Stuff Crux Restaurant

Crux Comptoir

Crux Comptoir has a few locations but fortunately for us, they just so happened to have a location right next to our hotel.

Atmosphere: There isn’t a ton of seating here. In the warmer months there’s a bunch of seating set up outside along with a few spots inside.

I love a great quick service grab-n-go place though. Especially fully vegan ones because there sure aren’t a ton!

The Food: As mentioned, everything is speedy. If you want avo toast, granola bowls, or smoothies, this is the spot.

I got a small Latté Chaï smoothie & the Gratitude avocado toast. They both tasted super fresh & yummy. I loved the apple with the avocado and balsamic.

Overall Rating: 4/5 – My husband was a little disappointed with the PB & J bowl. I tried to warn him that a bowl like that was just a smoothie but hey, he does what he wants haha.

Get The: I really liked the Chaï Latté smoothie. They topped it with little cacao nibs & those were a pleasure to crunch down on.

In the warmer months, Quartier Dix30 also has another juice bar called Venice. While they’re not a fully vegan establishment, they do have vegan menu options, along with a vegan poké bowl.

Vegan Travel Vegan Food Montreal A Blog About Stuff Archway

Archway

Our last vegan food adventure in Montreal.

Archway isn’t right downtown Montreal which was super convenient for us as it was that much closer to Chambly, yay!

Atmosphere: Scandinavian minimalism with greenery from plants. I totally dug the interior. When I came in to pick-up our order I was met by a warm smiling face from the server as she stood behind the counter. There were a few guests enjoying their meals.

The Food: So yummy!!! I know I say this a lot but I love food so I guess I’m an easy palette. My mom, husband & I all got the Breakfast Sandwich and it was awesome. I don’t normally love BBQ sauce (it depends) but I actually really liked this sandwich.

We also shared the Kale Caesar salad. I loved the salad but not so much the jackfruit/tofu nugget. My grandparents both got the Baklava Pancakes & they were obsessed. They both kept saying how they’re never heard of Baklava Pancakes. To be fair, neither had I but they looked & smelled delicious.

Overall Rating: 5/5 – I can’t wait to go back to this place and try more from their menu.

Get The: I really liked the Breakfast Sandwich but the Pear & Dreams waffles sounded amazing to me too.

Vegan Travel Vegan Food Montreal A Blog About Stuff Greenhouse

Montreal has always had a special place in my heart. Not only was it a safe place for my grandparents to move to from Trinidad many years ago, but it’s also been my home when I was a little girl. French was my 1st language and I love seeing the dust roll off my tongue as I try to formulate what little sentences I can, hah.

Of course I had to bring my favourite juices & kombuchas with me for the long road trips. Be sure to checkout Greenhouse Juice Co. for some of the best juices, boosters, & kombuchas.
