I’ve been wanting to put this article together for awhile now. I have so many amazing vegan cookbooks so it was somewhat difficult narrowing it down to these 6.
But these 6 vegan cookbooks are the ones that I’ve used the most and have had the best meals from.
One of my favourite things to do is buy cookbooks from vegan restaurants that I love and it just so happens that 2 of the best vegan restaurants I’ve been to also have 2 amazing cookbooks that are on this list.
ReFresh by Ruth Tal – Fresh Restaurants
Fresh is one of my go-to local vegan restaurant. They first started as a fresh juice & smoothie joint and they have since expanded to a full sit-down menu with many locations now throughout Ontario, Canada & even Los Angelas.
Checkout my review on Fresh in my Vegan Travel – Toronto Edition article here.
This salad is by far one of the tastiest & healthiest homemade salads out there. Basically it’s a whole meal in and of itself. I love making salads in the summer months because it helps keep me feeling light and not overly full and hot.
This book is filled with even more delicious recipes that Fresh Restaurants actually make in their restaurants. What a wonderful way to have some of your favourite dishes right in the comfort of your own home!
Crossroads by Tal Ronnen – Crossroads Kitchen LA
Crossroads is a must visit whenever I am in LA. This restaurant is on my all time fav vegan restaurant list. Owned by celeb musician Travis Barker and ran by celebrity chef Tal Ronnen, this is the place to be. I feel I should mention, I also saw Ringo Star here and Russell Simmons, quiet the spot for celeb vegan sighting.
I had lent this cookbook to my mother in law before I even dove in myself and she made these Hearts of Palm Calamari for Christmas appetizers & they were a HUGE hit!!! She continues to make these for nearly every family gathering and we’ve all grown to anticipate their deliciousness.
Hearts of Palm are such a deliciously nutrient dense food that also happens to be low in fat and calories. They are also rich in potassium, iron, copper, phosphorus, and zinc.
I definitely recommend giving this recipe a try & the two dips are equally delicious.
One of my newest cookbooks, Blue Zones Kitchen has actually become one of my most used and go-to vegan cookbooks over the past two years.
I even wrote a short little review & recipe roundup which you can checkout here.
Blue Zones Kitchen by Dan Buettner
This cookbook is filled with ancient recipes from some of the healthiest, longest living people from Centenarian villages across the world. Most recipes are alkaline and follow the cleanest, most purest whole foods, plant based ingredients.
I highly highly recommend this cookbook!!!
I started making this One-Pot Lasagna Soup last fall and it quickly became a weekly rotation. It is filled with hearty nutrient dense ingredients and it is so easy to prepare.
Oh She Glows Every Day by Angela Liddon
Angela Liddon is also a fellow vegan blogger with a huge amount of success. She is a New York Times Best Selling Author & award winning app creator (how cool)!
I love when I see other vegans succeeding and making giant waves in the world. It means more and more people are caring about what happens to animals, what happens to our earth, and what happens to our own bodies!
Potatoes are my absolute all time favourite carb haha. Like any way, any day and I am down for potatoes. So when I found this crispy potato dish I could not help myself. I may have drooled just looking at the pic.
My last two cookbooks; Vegan the Cookbook & Veganomicon, are some vegan staples. They both share a ton of information about vegan substitutes and nutrition.
There are so many vegan cookbooks that make vegan cooking so ridiculously easy. There is really no excuse to not try making your own vegan dishes at home. I think you’d be so pleasantly surprised by what you’re able to create without harming any other creature.
I can’t believe I didn’t own a vegan cookbook until my friend bought me one for my birthday (a week ago)! HAHA! I’ve been using more hearts of palm in my recipes lately. And I noticed a few of these included that. But I’m SO interested in the Blue Zones Kitchen cookbook! How easy are the recipes? (I’m cooking for a family of 5 and try to keep my recipes affordable and at a cook time under an hour.) Thanks for all the advice! Trying to decide which one I want to buy!
Get the Blue Zones! It’s full of hearty comforting family friendly meals. Can’t recommend it enough.
Thanks for sharing these vegan cookbooks! I’m always looking for good ones.
Yes – more books to add to my cookbook hoard! I have had my eye on Oh She Glows for a long time and your recommendation makes it irresistible. I am also really intrigued by the Blue Zones. I have listened to the regular Blue Zones audiobook and am really interesting in the cookbook. Thanks for all the ideas!
You can’t go wrong with either, you’ll love them both!
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences! <3
Wow these look so amazing. I heard oh she glows cook book is fantastic 🙂 I definitely want to buy one soon!
I’m not Vegan, but I love vegetable and bread recipes in Vegan cookbooks.
